Gerald B. H. Solomon collection, 1967-1998.

The Gerald B. H. Solomon Collection documents Solomon's political career, from his election in 1967 as Town Supervisor in Queensbury, until his retirement from the United States House of Representatives in 1998. The collection emphasizes his many campaigns for political office, particularly his campaigns for the House of Representatives. There is also considerable material reporting his service in the House of Representatives. The Gerald B. H. Solomon Collection contains press releases, 1981-1987, 1996-1998; Congressman Jerry Solomon Reports to the People, 1980-1997; newspaper clippings, 1971-1984, 1993-1994; photograph albums; papers, awards and letters, 1967-1993; Solomon's book, The NATO Enlargement Debate, 1990-1997; and a few miscellaneous papers.

Gerald Brooks Hunt Solomon was born in Okeechobee, Florida on August 14, 1930. He attended public schools in Delmar, New York. He attended Siena College from 1949-1950 and St. Lawrence University from 1953-1954. Solomon served in the Marine Corps in Korea from 1951-1952. He went into business in Glens Falls, was first elected to public office in 1967 as a Town Supervisor in Queensbury, later as a member of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, and in 1972 as a member of the New York State Asse...
